Kathryn Hinckley, author, mother, CEO, hairdresser, and an empowered leader is not your typical writer, and writing a book was never on her “bucket list,” but helping people is something she always wanted to do.
About four years ago, Hinckley started her career as an empowered leader/coach and started the consulting group called Mosomethod.
Hinckely has lived in Sterling for about three years and is originally from Lancaster. She lived in Florida for many years and moved back in 2008.
She graduated from Nashoba Regional Highschool in Bolton and started college at Roger Williams in Rhode Island but did not end up finishing. After that she attended formal teachings at the school of Hard Knocks.
After Hinckley started her own business she wrote and published her own book in December 2021 called, “Rapid Growth, Six Step Guide to Personal Discovery and Professional Transformation.”
Hinckley said that her book is a broad explanation of what she does in her online trainings within her company – “the Mosomethod is actually a method and what I have done is I have taken the vowels of the English vocabulary and they are used as an acronym for an easy pneumonic mental go-to.”
The acronym is Attitude, Effort, Intent, Opportunity, and Uniqueness – in Mosomethod it also uses the letter “y” to showcase that it is all about you.
“The ‘you’ part or the ‘y’ which is ‘you’ is the sustainability of being able to make any aspect of your life successful however you apply it,” said Hinckley.
She added that the book is “super-fast and easy,” with some exercises included as well.
Hinckley said she started writing the book a couple years ago and was a little unsure at first about writing the book.
After Covid-19 started Hinckley was not doing much of her training so she put the book away, and then last August once a company was doing a live program again Hinckley wrote something for their program, and it made her want to start writing the book again.
She said that she started writing in mid- August and published in December 2021 because “it just flowed out of me – just pouring out of me because I just had to get it out there.”
Afterwards Hinckley said she self-published her book on Amazon and made many best-seller categories such as, number one in: customer relations, total quality management, work life balance and business, career development counseling, business consulting, and business systems and planning.
The book is $12.99 for the paperback on Amazon, $19.99 for the hardcover, and $4.99 for the e-book.
She added that she is slowly making her way to the bookstores now and currently working on her audiobook.
Hinckley said she named her company, Mosomethod Consulting Group because it was the name of the Moso bamboo tree which is a great Chinese bamboo.
When Hinckely heard about this bamboo she knew this plant in a way defined life. The moso bamboo tree grows and takes about five years to show any progress in growth, said Hinckely.
Hinckley said, “This all came to be because – this is life – you have to do those daily behaviors – those daily activities, but most importantly the right ones. To find the results you have got to stay the course and you can’t give in to that tipping point.”
Mosomethod came to be because Hinckely said she saw this kind of process of people giving up right before they succeed and started the company to help people understand that they can stay the course and trust the process to get success in the end.
“Anybody [any company] that wants growth, my system works for them,” said Hinckley.
She added that, “Mosomethod is considered the fundamentals for success.”
Hinckley said that her company is all about professional development and it teaches the individual how to be accountable and how to do those things to grow professionally.
Currently Hinckley is developing an online course representing her trainings for individuals and her goal is to have mini books representing each vowel from the book down the road.
Hinckely said there are many good self-help and professional development books out there and they all are very focused on what you “should do.”
She added that her book is a more “flannel shirt and work boot type of speaker,” with personal experience tied into the reading.
Hinckley said that her book is written in a “conversational way” and this book is for an average individual.
The biggest takeaway that Hinckley wants from the book is that “it’s not that you need to do this to be successful, it is that you need to be aware that your choices make the difference. So once you become aware of something you can change direction, or you can choose not to. That’s the strength and that’s the control that you have,” she said.
Hinckely said she would like to thank her husband Dan and her family for supporting her and would like to thank the hardships she had to go through in life which made her who she is today.
Hinckley added that she is “grateful” for anyone who is reading her book.
She wanted to connect with more people, she said, “people who feel like there is an opportunity for more in their life personally or professionally and I believe this book is going to help them.”
