Last month’s article about the Sterling Master Plan detailed the progress being made on all the chapters that make up the plan. The Transportation/Circulation chapter is complete and listed eight goals. Each of the other chapters: Land Use, Economic Development, Housing, Open Space/Recreation, Natura/Cultural/Historic Resources, and Public Facilities and Services will also contain goals. That’s a lot of goals!
The Master Plan Committee is planning another public meeting on April 15 at 6:30 p.m., which will be held over Zoom. At that meeting, issues and opportunities with each chapter topic will be reviewed, to begin to develop a set of goals to address those issues and opportunities. We need feedback from Sterling residents during the goals development process. What goals should be included in each chapter, which are high priority, how do concerns about taxes impact these goals? What about the goal stated in our vision statement of valuing Sterling’s natural beauty and agricultural history while enhancing the quality of life for all residents? Are any goals in conflict with the vision statement? This is a critical time in the writing of the Sterling Master Plan, and we need all opinions to be heard.
