The Village Green Preschool in Sterling recently awarded its seventeenth annual $1,000 scholarship to Blake Brote.
Blake lives in Sterling and attended VGP from 2005-2007. He recently graduated from Bancroft High School in Worcester where he maintained impressive grades while participating in a variety of extracurricular activities. Some of these activities include being a four-time state finalist in the debate and speech club; many years in music, drama, and theater; participated in and led the Big Buddy program and volunteered at Worcester Refugee Assistance throughout high school.
This year there were multiple qualified applicants for the VGP Scholarship – a group of students who are clearly setting off to do wonderful things in the world. The applicants were asked to answer one of two questions in their essay. Blake chose to write about “…a person, place or event which had a significant impact on your life and how your life has changed because of said person, place or event.”
From the beginning, the scholarship committee knew there was something special about this young man. His essay showed his ability to remain positive, to work hard and to pursue something that you love.
Blake plans on attending Babson College in the fall, intending to major in Entrepreneurship and Real Estate.
The VGP Parent Advisory Board proudly awards Blake Brote with the 2021 VGP scholarship and wishes him the very best in the years ahead at Babson College.
Village Green Preschool offers an annual scholarship to a graduating senior who attended VGP and plans to attend a two-or four-year accredited college or university.
