Realmass Studios has an action-packed shooting schedule planned for this summer, and there is a good chance you will see a film crew or two while passing through the streets of Sterling. Keep an eye out for Woody’s Barbershop, C&M Pizza, and the Sterling Fire Department, among other local spots.
Adam Morey is the co-founder of Realmass Studios, the motion picture company behind the supernatural thriller, KINDEr, which is currently in production across central Mass. Sterling will be featured in this fictional series, albeit referred to as Alastor, Maine in the story.
KINDEr is a thriller series which takes place in present day, with ties to old colonial Salem, and the dreaded witchcraft trials that occurred. Directed by Daniel McNulty (Realmass Studios co-founder), with a story written by Scott Stephen Kegler, KINDEr stars Peyton O’Kelley as Harper Nourse, and sisters Olivia and Evelyn Twarowski as Laura and Madison Goode, young girls on an evil mission. This is a pitch pilot for a potential Netflix series, and the stakes are high.
Currently residing in Worcester, Morey (Line Producer on KINDEr) has roots in Sterling. After living in town from 1982-1984, his family moved to Princeton from 1984-1998. He is excited to return this summer, this time with a full production team along for the ride.
“Here at Realmass Studios, we help fellow artists practice their creativity and their natural skillsets, while providing the tools and encouraging them as they work together to create something great,” Morey said. “We provide an opportunity for people to achieve their goals.”
“This is arguably the biggest film I’ve worked on,” said David Nugent, the Director of Photography on KINDEr. At just 20 years old, Nugent jumped at the opportunity to get involved.
“I have been doing film and video work for eight years now. It’s a passion of mine.”
Originally from Hudson, Nugent connected with Realmass Studios through a mutual friend.
“We looked at a bunch of locations in Sterling,” he said. “It is fascinating to dig into the town’s history, and to correlate that information into our story. Everyone is working really hard, and we are excited about this project.”
Nugent will be furthering his studies at Fitchburg State, where he is currently enrolled as a junior film student.
Aaron White, a local author with interest in witchcraft, the occult, and horror shorts, has also joined the Realmass Studios family as a creative consultant and prop master.
Kate Sweetman recently joined the team as PR Director, which led to a partial sponsorship from Polar Beverages, among others.
Morey’s mother, Gail Learnard, handles all the back-office duties, as she has since day one. With lots of paperwork behind the scenes, she plays an important role in the production process.
Austin Worthington McCarthy, lead singer of Carolina Burn, will be contributing some original material to the KINDEr soundtrack. A brief tease for the song “Eye to an Eye” can be found on the Realmass Studios Facebook page.
